"Decisions are made by those who show up"

It's probably kind of sad that when discussing politics, I often quote Martin Sheen/Aaron Sorkin.

Yesterday, a record number of people showed up, and it was a pretty awe-inspiring thing to be a part of. I actually missed voting in the last presidential election, despite the fact that I volunteered for Promote the Vote in the months leading up to it. I was living in (and registered in) New York, but was called out of town for a meeting in Boston. I vaguely considered driving back just for the election, but the timing just didn't work out, and truth be told, I was just too lazy to put in the effort and spend the money associated with that move. This time around, I think I could have been on the other side of the country and still would have found a way to vote.

Yesterday I was in line before the polls even opened. I stood in front of a mom and her little girl, and we were joking around that she had a few more years (14 to be exact) until she would get to vote, but that didn't stop her from having an opinion. She was an Obama four year old all the way.

Now if only my good mood wasn't tempered by the non-sense on the left coast. I seriously did not see that one coming. I thought it was in the bag.
