What I read when I'm not wonky eyed

Stacking the Shelves

When I left San Francisco, I put all of my books (except for a handful) into a box and left them by the door with a big "take one" sign the night of my going away party. It was a sad, sad day. I think that's why I now have a semi-documented tendency to buy books in large quantities. Imagine my delight, then, when my friend gave me the BEST GIFT EVER -- an Amazon gift certificate, which I used to buy numerous used books (in alphabetical order by author last name of course):

  • You Shall Know Our Velocity by David Eggers
  • Towelhead by Alicai Erian
  • Independence Day by Richard Ford
  • The Sports Writer by Richard Ford
  • Women with Men, Three Stories by Richard Ford
  • The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera
  • Patience & Sarah by Isabel Miller
  • Little Children by Richard Perrotta
  • Julie and Julia : 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen by Julia Powell
  • White Teeth by Zadie Smith
  • Assassination Vacation by Sarah Vowell

I think Partly Cloudy Patriot was the last book I read that I really loved, so I figure I'm due.

(Yes, it's 10:19 on a Friday night and I'm home blogging about books I bought online. Sometimes, it's hard being this cool)

  • This is the personal web site of Sarah McAuley. After a few years in SF and NY, I have returned to Boston, Jamaica Plain specifically, to continue my career as a marketing wench. I recently (Dec. 07) switched industries, leaving telecom for the exciting world of clean tech. I no longer commute to an office park 75 minutes away, which has helped my mood considerably. I hate pesto and I love to read. I think sharing my life with strangers is odd and narcissistic, which of course is why I'm addicted to it and have been doing it for several years now. Need more? You can read the "About Me" section, drop me an email, or you know, just read the drivel that I pour out here.
